will the new switch have better graphics

The Nintendo Switch 2 is one of the most anticipated gaming consoles in recent years. Due to the success of the original Switch and the popularity of the Nintendo Switch OLED model, fans are eagerly waiting to see what improvements the next generation will bring.   One of the most talked about features?   The possibility of an OLED display.

What Is OLED and Why Does It Matter?

OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) displays offer richer colors, deeper blacks and better contrast than traditional LCD screens.   They are also more power-efficient, which is especially valuable for portable devices like the Nintendo Switch.   The current Nintendo Switch OLED model, released in 2021, has improved its vibrant 7-inch screen, although the internal hardware remains unchanged.
So naturally, gamers are wondering: Will the Switch 2 come with OLED as a standard feature?

What the Rumors Say

While not many details about Nintendo Switch 2 have been officially confirmed, several industry insiders and leaks have hinted.   According to reports from sources like Bloomberg and Digital Foundry, prototypes that include LCD and OLED options are in testing.   Some information also suggests that Nintendo may offer multiple models — a basic version with an LCD and a premium version with OLED, just like the current lineup.

Other leaks hint at a larger display, perhaps 8 inches, which would make OLED a more attractive choice for visual clarity and gaming immersion.

The Case for OLED in the Switch 2

There are several reasons why Nintendo chose to make the OLED standard on the Switch 2:

  •  User Feedback: The OLED model of the original Switch received overwhelmingly positive reviews, especially for handheld gameplay.

  • Competition: Devices like the Steam Deck OLED and ASUS ROG Ally are raising the bar for handheld gaming displays.

  •  Future-proofing: As games become more visually complex, better display technology helps improve the overall experience.

Potential Drawbacks

Of course, OLED displays are more expensive than LCDs.   If Nintendo wants to keep the base price of the Switch 2 affordable, they might stick with LCD for some versions.   Although modern OLED panels have largely reduced this problem, there is also the possibility of burn-in with long-term use.

Final Thoughts

Currently, there is no official word from Nintendo on whether the Switch 2 will include an OLED display.   However, given the good reception of the current OLED model and the direction of the industry, it seems likely that OLED - at least in some form - will be part of the Switch 2 lineup.

Until Nintendo makes an official announcement, all we can do is wait and hope that the next Switch looks not only better, but better.
